Stefanie Stantcheva is currently a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows, and will begin an appointment as an Assistant Professor at the Harvard Department of Economics in July 2016. Stantcheva’s research focuses on the optimal design of the tax system, taking into account important labor market features, social preferences, and long-term effects such as human capital acquisition and innovation by people and firms. She is also interested in the empirical effects of taxation on inequality, incomes, human capital, and innovation. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from MIT, master’s degrees in economics and economics and finance respectively from the Paris School of Economics and Ecole Polytechnique, and a B.A. in economics from the University of Cambridge.
